One Thursday, it was a special time on the mountain. Earlier during the day, Clay and Monica had shared with their campers the gospel. They used the ‘Dirty Heart, Clean Heart’ presentation. In this gospel presentation, they shared how the sins of our life make our lives and hearts dirty and a dirty heart cannot go to heaven or have a relationship with Jesus. As they share, they draw pictures to illustrate their points. They ask the campers to share sins they may have in their hearts and as the campers share these sins, they draw a black mark on the heart. After some time, the heart has many black marks on it. The marks could look like black short hairs and this is what one young man saw as he thought about his sin.
Later that night, this young man came downstairs to proclaim his relationship with Jesus. He realized he had a sinful, dirty heart and he need a Savior. It was a joyous time as Clay talked to him about his decision. After praying with Clay, this camper remarked, “Clay, now my heart isn’t hairy anymore!”
We thought he was so on target! Jesus cleaned up all of his sins and he had no more hairy sins in his heart.
