If you know anything about South Mountain Baptist Camp, you know how important our staff are to the camp experience here on the mountain. We may not be fancy but God uses our very special staff to tell their salvation stories to reach children for Christ. Here are some of the staff highlights from Week 3 this summer:
Sara Jenkins: Leading my church’s devotions on the last night, the kids explained all of the things they had learned and wanted to take home with them. Every answer was rooted in Jesus.
Matt Austin: One of my favorite churches came and I got to see all the kids who thought I wouldn’t be back this summer. It goes to show we can’t rely on our plans because God’s plan is so much better. I loved getting to spend time with these special campers.
Zach Miller: I really enjoyed watching my 1st and 2nd graders from Bible study walk down the aisle to say ‘Yes’ to Jesus. It is really inspiring to know that you can make a difference in someone’s life.
This week God saved 26 campers, 19 campers made public commitments to step closer to the Lord and God asked 10 campers to dedicate their lives to His ministry or mission. This should give you great praises in your prayer time this week,
As you read this update today, would you pray for the staff this next week? Pray that He would draw them closer to Himself in all ways possible.
We couldn’t do camp without the faithful, loving counselors who sacrifice sleep and time away from their jobs to bring their church’s children to hear the gospel and be loved on all week. We asked some of these wonderful people what their groups’ highlights were from the second week. This is what we heard.
Sabrina from Nazareth Community Church shared, “I think both adults and children would say Forrest! He did amazing! The tricks kept us on our toes and the way he worked the gospel into the messages couldn’t have been better. He was spot on with the gospel!! And we all love the food especially chicken tender night!
Linda from Enon Baptist Church said, “Kids and all adults LOVED the speaker Forrest and kids said they liked Bible study.”
Jana from West Hickory Baptist Church told us, “The kids would probably say swim! Every day they wanted to know when it was swim time. My favorite was church devotion and listening to their day.”
Forrest Davis (ForhisForkidz.com/forrestdavis) did an amazing job, again, this second week sharing the gospel while keeping our focus on his message. Also, God worked His miracles, again, as He saved 27 and drew many closer to Himself. We are thankful for all who brought children to camp, for those worked selflessly, and all of you who prayed.
